On March 10th, 2008 HSBC Private Bank France, through its management company, was awarded the first place of the Alpha League Table France 2008, with a rating of 1.52.
Ranked 2nd position in the 2007 edition, HSBC Private Bank France confirms for 2008 the continuity and overall performance of its management with this first position (255 French management companies were initially approached, and based on Europerformance data as at 31 December 2007) for its ability to generate alpha*.
HSBC Private Bank France improves, compared to last year, the number of funds outperforming the markets. The frequency - 53.2% - is associated with an average alpha of 2.89%, for a final ranking of 1.52.
Alpha was calculated over 1 year, on actively managed equity funds for the period between the end of 2006 and the end of 2007. Funds that were not rated on "style rating" were not taken into account, "style rating" was developed jointly by Europerformance & Edhec Business School.
In addition, each fund's alpha was calculated in relation to an index suitable to both the fund category and management style.
*Alpha indicates the outperformance generated by the fund in comparison to a benchmark.
