Philanthropy
Philanthropic support: a natural vocation for HSBC |
Philanthropic commitment of the HSBC Group
Philanthropic support within the HSBC Group is an integral element of its policy of sustainable development. Deployed in the areas of environmental protection and support for education, it helps to improve its employees’ awareness of these issues and to widen its positive influence on the societies within which it operates. It is manifested through special initiatives implemented on a global level, and also through local campaigns that are part of the day-to-day activities of all the bank’s business lines.
Setting up a philanthropic support service: a constructive approach based on listening |
HSBC Private Bank France decided to set up a philanthropic support service for its private clients for two main reasons. Firstly, this investment is an integral part of the wealth planning of a growing number of its clients; private bankers expressed their desire to provide their clients with an improved management service in this area. Secondly, HSBC Private Bank France would like to establish a link between the philanthropic commitments of the Group and its clients, as a sign of its commitment to constructive relationships based on trust.
In order to structure the approach, HSBC Private Bank France has sought to establish the requirements of its clients in the area of philanthropic services. To this end, we have engaged the services of the consultancy "L’Initiative Philanthropique"to conduct a survey amongst fifteen of our philanthropist clients. The results of this survey were highly informative, and we are happy to share them with you.
Your expectations, our response |
The "Rencontres des Philanthropes" forum
HSBC Private Bank France invites you to participate in a discrete and exclusive discussion process, during which you will be able to freely exchange views, by attending a themed meeting every two months with a philanthropist and an expert in the field. These meetings will take place over lunch, in the CEO’s dining room at HSBC France head office.
Our expertise
Our private bankers and wealth engineering team are the focal point for our range of services. Your initial point of contact is your private banker, whose role is to support your philanthropic initiative. They will work in partnership with wealth engineering specialists, who will provide you with their legal and fiscal expertise, their advice in the field of governance, and will direct you towards the expertise you require, both internally and externally.
A network of partners and contacts
Our role is to work alongside you, to turn your philanthropic aspirations into reality by setting up the appropriate tools. We will help you to establish constructive contacts with philanthropic organisations, giving you the benefit of our own experience and that of renowned philanthropists through the intermediary of expert partners. Regarding sheltered foundations, we offer solutions developed by the Fondation de France, the Institut de France and other shelter foundations. If you decide on an independent structure (RUP - public interest organisation status) or an endowment fund, we will introduce you to partners able to manage its creation, administration and to suggest the best mode of governance.
A window to the outside
The bank will provide active support for your participation in outside events that bring philanthropists together and will set up communication tools tailor-made to your needs.
Personalised support
The Sustainable Development Department at HSBC France is able to introduce you to partners, philanthropy experts, specialist bodies and associations, all of which are supported by the bank.
