The European Payment Services Directive and SEPA


What are the changes from 1 November 2009?

The Payment Services Directive which comes into effect on November, 1st 2009, aims to harmonize payment methods in European currencies in the 27 member states of the European Union and the three other countries of the European Economic Area (EEA): Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The PSD provisions will not be applicable in Switzerland, although it is a member country of the SEPA.

In France, the PSD provisions were incorporated into national law on July, 15th 2009.
